Find Beauty

Each piece I create starts with two questions. Is it beautiful? Is it magical? This is what guides me in all that I create here. Early in my career I asked myself why I want to make art. What drives me to create these visual stories? Ultimately I want to be a person that brings more beauty into the world. Not less. I want to create moments of magic and mystery. I want to speak to emotions that can only be felt and not described. I want to leave the world better than I left it, and I can do that through my art.

My purpose as an artist is to find beauty in the small moments. That motto has become my driving force as a creative.

MEET THE ARTIST

Hi, I’m Tannie, an independent illustrator and artist. Nice to meet you! I’ve worn many hats in my 20+ year artistic journey: painter, designer, children’s book illustrator, author, teacher, mentor. But no matter which hat I have on, I love creating art that makes you feel something – even if just for a moment.

I have a BFA from Texas State University in Communication Design. I enjoy using my branding and communication background to help other artists and creatives by teaching workshops and classes such as Branding for Creatives, and Logo Design for Illustrators at SVSlearn.com.

I live just outside Austin, TX, where I fervently foster my love for Korean dramas, hiking and queso. But the thing I love most is spending time with my ultra-running husband, my two overly handsome sons, one energetic pupper, and two cats who work fiercely to support whatever stereotype you may have about cats.
