Tannie M. Smith is an Illustrator and Author for kids both young and old. Her mission is to have her art and stories be an influence for good in the world. For ten years she owned and operated the successful graphic design firm, tann|design. As her children grew, Tannie loved seeing their imaginative perspective on things. She wanted more of that childlike wonder in her own personal life, so she began to refocus her work toward illustration and writing. Although her emphasis is on picture books, she is happy to collaborate on editorial and middle grade projects. She also loves to use her branding and communication knowledge to help other artists by teaching work-shops and classes such as Branding for Creatives, Overcoming Self-doubt, The Power of Change, and Why Artists Make the Art They Make.

Tannie has a BFA from Texas State University in Communication Design. She currently lives in Austin, Texas where she fervently fosters her love for Korean dramas, yoga and tacos.  But the thing she loves most is spending time with her ultra-running husband, 2 entrepreneurial teenage boys, 1 energetic puppers, and 2 cats that fiercely work to support whatever stereotype you may have about cats.
